This salt-fired tumbler is hand-thrown with a high-fire stoneware. Cave art, petroglyph-style abstract pod shapes are hand-drawn around the tumbler and highlighted with black slip. This tumbler was fired in a gas-fueled salt kiln. The combination of the flame and salt produces flashing and a glaze of salt in unexpected ways. The glazes used are food safe and durable. Although hand-washing is recommended for handmade pottery, this tumbler can be washed in a dishwasher. I have microwaved all my pottery but always exercise caution when microwaving any pottery.
